A Sacrifice Unlike Any Other That We Are ALL Going To Have To Make-SOON! (Video)

Psalm 3:2-6 (NKJV)

Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the Lord with my voice, And He heard me from His holy hill. Selah I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.

Sometimes it’s hard to stay focused and keep our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ. It can also be a challenge to offer up the sacrifice of praise in the midst of a storm. After all, don’t the storms in life darken the inner joy that shines from our hearts to the world?  At least, that is what Satan would like to see happen. Not only does it keep us from being a witness to others, but it also keeps us down, weak, and ineffective, rendering us helpless.

Sadly, most of us allow it because we give up and lay down without a fight. Why do you think it is called the sacrifice of praise? Instead of sacrificing our flesh and surrendering to God’s will, we sacrifice God’s will and our faith in Him.

Here’s what Hebrews 13:15 and Psalm 50:23 have to say about the ‘sacrifice’ of praise:

Hebrews 13:15

Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

Psalm 50:23

But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.

Hebrews 13:15 tells us to ‘continually’ offer the ‘sacrifice’ of praise–happy, sad, mad, frustrated, hurt, confused, etc. God knows it’s hard, that is why it’s called a sacrifice.

According to Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary, one of the definitions of sacrifice was:

The act of giving up something that you want to keep especially in order to get or do something else or to help someone

When we are depressed, angry, worried, stressed out, sad or feeling any emotion that is negative in nature, part of us wants to hold on to it. That part of us is the flesh. Paul tells us throughout the New Testament that our spirit and our flesh are always waging war with one another, but that we are to overcome the flesh with the power of the Holy Spirit.  In fact, Ephesians 6:10-20 gives us detailed instructions how to overcome the enemy in this great spiritual battle we fight daily.

Say to the Lord today:

Despite all the negative circumstances, people, and thoughts that surround me, swallowing up my peace and joy, help me, Heavenly Father, to please You in everything I say, think, feel, and do. Your Word tells us time and again that it is far from an easy task. In fact, it can be downright painful to pick up our cross and carry it, just like Jesus did on His way to Calvary. It is a sacrifice (to give up, abandon, surrender, renounce, forfeit, betray) indeed! To abandon, or betray, our own fleshly desires to please You, Father.

So today I will begin new by replacing any negativity in faith with the promises of Your Word.  In Jesus’ name, amen!

Final Thoughts

When we dwell in our negativity, worry, doubt, unbelief and hurts, or when we focus on what someone else has said or done that has hurt us, we are not proclaiming our allegiance God the Father. Rather, we are proclaiming unbelief and distrust in Him as our God and as our heavenly Father.

Hebrews 11:6 Without faith it is impossible to please God.

1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
